1965 Royal Caravan Serial # CR6042423 1965 Royal Caravan typewriter, Serial # CR6042423 LaDonna Qualtieri's 1965 Royal Caravan typewriter. 2023-12-18 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of LaDonna Qualtieri: 1965 Royal Caravan Serial # CR6042423 The SN notes on TWDB have the Caravan “CR” as “discontinued?” After 1964, yet the SN for this Caravan puts it at 1965. I guess it could be a 1964, and the end serial number for 1964 needs to be extended from 5958589 to at least 6042423. This machine arrived latched in to a broken case, but well packaged. The right column button is jammed in, the left on is inop. The carriage moved at first then stopped altogether. The ribbon cover appears to have been replaced with a home-fashioned replica that resembles wood paneling but feels very lightweight and smooth. A Goodwill last minute purchase for about $22 total. Hope it doesn’t need too much work to get it typing.
Now that I’ve accessed the manual, I can try lifting the retractable line space lever on the left side of the cylinder and push it back for storage in the case. Gave this away for free 2023
