The Typewriter Database 1962 SCM Galaxie Serial # 6T 359609 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Jack B: 1962 SCM Galaxie Serial # 6T 359609 Ouch. I never thought I would see a Galaxie in as poor shape as this one. Every single type slug is frozen, and the whole mechanism is caked in eraser shavings. I wanted a first generation Galaxie, though, so hopefully this one will be worth the effort.

UPDATE: Now disassembled and well on the way to recovery... if I can figure out how to put it back together...

UPDATED UPDATE: Not reassembled yet, but I have freed all the type slugs and she types great. I'm thinking of stripping the paint and then covering it in a clear coat.

That type sample is probably the first thing she has typed in a decade, maybe longer.

UPDATED UPDATED UPDATE: Reassembled now, just needs a few finishing touches. I really like these early Galaxies. Even though she's a bit rough around the edges, I'm pretty satisfied for now. Maybe I'll get to that repaint later...
