The SM3 has been a typewriter I’ve been meaning to try, but I don’t ever see them in person. When I first saw it, it had a piece of paper in place and I gave it a try and I instantly liked it. While testing it, I noticed a strange grinding when the carriage was almost to the right margin which later turned out to be the worn out body mount grommets causing the tab stops to touch the left side of the body shell.
Once home, I installed new washers and a new ribbon and that’s really all that it needed. It lives up to its reputation and I really enjoy typing on it.
