Okay, THIS is the last typewriter I buy on eBay. Aesthetically, it's quite beautiful, except the right ribbon cover is bent (I failed to notice this when I bought it). I love the gull-wing, independent ribbon covers, and the spacebar that overlaps the bottom of the frame. I just wish it would type. I've tried every lever and button but it won't type, even though all the keys depress. The carriage release levers do work, and it moves freely. Perhaps the drawstring has come undone or it's something simple that I've overlooked. (This is entirely possible.) I do want to get this one going. The case is quite nice, with pockets likely for lost brushes and the manual, and it came with the original dust cover.

I have suddenly become a typewriter collector. It started with one purchase and has ballooned to a collection of more than forty in less than a year. I'm learning fast but I'm still a novice compared to others in the typosphere, including here in Toronto, where I haunt thrift shops and antique markets, and even the occasional basement. I'm a former magazine writer and published author, and a professional book editor by trade, and I learned to type on manuals despite the proliferation of electrics, so I like to think I come by my sudden and rather manic passion honestly.
