Description:
QWERZ Hermes Baby. It is in great condition for it's age. I generally need to fix a multitude of issues with many of my machines, but surprisingly, it was in complete working order when I bought it.
It has very light & snappy action, which makes it easy to write on. One feature I really enjoy on this machine is the "1/" button. You can combine it with any number to create a variety of fractions!
One other thing. I don't always use my typewriters on my lap, you know... Like a laptop. But when I do, it's with this machine! It's an enjoyable experience to lay on the couch and just type out your thoughts.
Strangely, a precious owner has scratched the S/N on this machine. I don't own any other typewriters with scratched S/N, so I don't know if this is unusual. I can only make out the first number "2". It has the body, logo and mechanics of a 1940-1942 Baby.

I'm a software engineer in the Chicagoland area. I've been collecting "vintage" vinyl, computers, mechanical keyboards and typewriters since I was a kid.
I enjoy problem solving and puzzles, so naturally fixing I fell in love with fixing and maintaining mid century typewriters. Today, we generally stare at screens throughout the day, but I've found it's very therapeutic to turn off my phone and fix some mechanical machines.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Hermes Baby on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Hermes Serial Number page and the Hermes Baby By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
