Description:
This machine was found in Stuarts Draft, VA for a good price and sat drawbandless and untouched in my home for a few years until a few days ago. Now it works pretty well.
The top part which has cracked is something like Bakelite, but certainly plastic. Other Uranias I have seen this piece is metal.
Also my key rings and maybe the typebars too are aluminum. My key rings look thicker to me than other machines, I wonder if those are steel. Side by side comparison has yet to be done.
I suspect it is a war materials shortage machine. I tried to do some research but the best threads I could find on Nazi machines and Third Reich produced machines were old and also derailed by a moderator. Maybe someday we can shine some light on the history of this machine.
Any light you can shed would be welcome!

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Urania Klein-Urania on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Urania Serial Number page and the Urania Klein-Urania By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
