This was a day to remember. Typewriter hunting gone wild. 5TE purrs like new with not an erasure bit in site, clean, clean, clean. Even the OE belts are working well. This typer was rarely used. The No 10 needs the platen and is otherwise functioning. The KMM, also in 14 in, is in great cond. The Speedline has a small dent in front of the space bar and a few scuffs that'll polish out. Mechanically, as clean as they come. The Coronet has the typical case scratches, powers up and will get new belts.. All but the Erika came with their cases! Day of days!!!

So the Erika is missing its paper rest and spools. The platen and rollers are obviously gone. However, I don't think the bottom cover has ever been off. The initial inspection shows next to no rust. This will be the first project of the bunch. To be cont.....

As with many, the bug is back there somewhere due to an Underwood No. 5. My grandfather was on a small town school board and used one for this. My parents had a yellow Royal Safari that I used to index card everything, including a beer can collection. Collection syndrome clue! The long dormant tic was activated when my neighbors left a Remington Quiet Riter on the curb when they moved in circa 2010, Yes a believe it or not story is next, when a Hermes 3000 comes home with the girlfriend from work for free. Yes, free! From there the addiction is full steam. And yes, I now have a No. 5. Typewriters are the perfect blend of using one's technical skills, history and functional purpose.
