1956 Siemag Portable Serial # 010786 1956 Siemag Portable typewriter, Serial # 010786 Aaron Friedrich Lotar Rolf Klamp's 1956 Siemag Portable typewriter. 2021-05-13 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Aaron Friedrich Lotar Rolf Klamp: 1956 Siemag Portable Serial # 010786 Not much is known to to me, and I think in general, about this extreme rare specimen of siemags portable typewriter, other than that it´s inserts are the one of a Schmitt Express. Instead of a bakelite body it has one of aluminium or metall (haven´t made the magnet proof), but still has a segment out of bakelite as the Schmitt Express.
The whole construction seems to be made solidly, and gladly the typewriter is in very good condition, but I fear, when looking into the mechanics, that if something had to be repaired, the mechanics are not good acessible for that matter.
The dampening foam in the ribbon cover was falling into dust, and has to be replaced sometime by me. Also the tiny blue plastic knob of the color indicator, I guess was missing, so I replaced it with a halfened head of a pin. I also had to repair the lock of the case a little bit, because it had bended of mistreatement. Despite of that it seems, that this Typewriter haven´t seen alot of use.
