Designed by Marcello Nizzoli to replace the Studio 42, it remained in production from 1952 to 1968. Initially it was in two color versions, light blue and light brown, from late 1950s only in light blue. Specimens produced after 1961 / 1962 have small technical differences (double paper rest, transparent plastic sheet guides, larger return lever and other small things. Very common today in Italy where many many Studio 44 have survived until today.

The Olivetti Studio 44 typewriter was an iconic and widely used machine. Designed by Marcello Nizzoli to replace the Studio 42, it remained in production from 1952 to 1968. After a break of a few years I returned to collect typewriters but no longer so old, I prefer now the design of the 40's, 50's and 60's. Yes, I am an affectionate collector of Olivetti, of course, but I'm attracted to all the other brands from that period, not just Italian.
