1935 Underwood 6 Serial # 4431303-14 1935 Underwood 6 typewriter, Serial # 4431303-14 J Makoto Smith's 1935 Underwood 6 typewriter. 2021-09-16 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of J Makoto Smith: 1935 Underwood 6 Serial # 4431303-14 I have cleaned this out, there was so much grime and crud everywhere! The bell rings again, and the typewriter looks as it did in 1935. It in one of the best in writing, rivalled only by my other standards (they all write so well), but this has the classic look and feel, creating the best typewriter experience.

This typewriter, though similar to the NĀ° 6, is not the NĀ° 6. This is the Standard Champion Model, a model for which virtually no information exists, the only reason I know is through some careful research into the NĀ° 6 Model, as well as how the typewriter looks. The paper table decal on a NĀ° 6 of this same type would be "6 Underwood 14" where this is "14 Underwood 14." There is also the word "CHAMPION" just out of sight on the space-bar, not to mention the curved Bakelite keys, rather than just glass. These features are really the only way to tell out a NĀ° 6 from a Standard Champion.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Underwood 6 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Underwood Serial Number page and the Underwood 6 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
