Description:
This typewriter was produced in France starting from 1922 until 1930. It is very similar (but not identical) to the German Ideal D and the early Continental. It's not the kind of typewriter I collect, however I found it in a flea market for very few Euros and decided to get it. I still have to check it well but it seems complete and everything seems to work.

I have been an Italian typewriter collector for many many years. At that time, I loved very old typewriters from late 1800s to early 1900s. After a break of a few years I returned to collect typewriters but no longer so old, I prefer now the design of the 40's, 50's and 60's. Yes, I am an affectionate collector of Olivetti, of course, but I'm attracted to all the other brands from that period, not just Italian.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Contin 1 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Contin Serial Number page and the Contin 1 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
