        Pre-WWII • First produced machines in 1931 as Oliver Typewriter (Italy) Ltd. of a design that later surfaced as the "Europa", made by EUROPA Typewriter Company in Berlin, Germany (which became "Olympia" in 1936).

Post-WWII • Successor to the Italian Oliver (1930/31), the name was later changed to Simtype. Production ran into 1952/1953 with final serial number 214,071 (84,071 produced). Sold in Belgium as Luxa, Pontiac and Volcan. Also sold as "MAS", "SIM-Italia", Astoria, Montana, Patria and Oliver Model 3.

In 1935, produced "Ala" and "Simtype" Models, clones of the 1930's Hermes Baby design, under license from Palliard.
Became "Montana, S.p.A." in 1950, producing new-style Hermes Baby clones under license. First years of production were of high quality, then declining as the design devolved into the 1960's.
