1938 Corona Standard

Serial #2C192966

L.C. Smith & Corona Standard that I got from a guy at a perpetual yard sale who calls me when he has a typewriter. With case and keys, it needed a bit of cleaning and works fine except for the bell not ringing (yet). The type sample is from the ribbon that was in it.

These Speedline bodies are very attractive in glossy paint, even black. The keys are plastic (bakelite?), not glass, with chrome rings, though at first glance they look like glass.

While I find all of mankind's inventions interesting, I am most enchanted by the human-scale arts and devices, the ones that can be created (and repaired) in a home workshop or studio; the ones that can be understood by looking at them; the ones that do something useful or stir admiration. Typewriters work for me.
