This is one of the most spectacular typewriters in my collection. Olivers were often nickel-plated for sale in Mexico; there are various theories about how this got started, including the idea that nickel would resist tropical humidity and the idea that Mexicans simply love the shine of nickel.
This particular machine was offered on craigslist in San Antonio, but it definitely was made for the Mexican market and has a Spanish keyboard. The name plate was in bad shape and I replaced it with one from a nice but not nickel-plated Oliver 5.
The manufacture date should be around 1913.
