1906 L.C. Smith 2

Serial #12737-2

This machine was owned by a friend's family. I told them I was a typewriter collector and they said they had an old machine I could have. A few months later my friend brought it back after seeing his folks and told me to name a fair price. I quoted one and then was told I could have it for $10 because they had given it once to neighbors who then put it on sale at a garage sale. Upset about this my friend's family bought it back. They said I could have the typewriter if I recouped the loss so long as I promised to love the machine and give it a good home. I took it home to learn a bit about it and began to notice little things: no backspace, a right hand carriage return, a low serial number... and it is now the oldest working machine in my collection. I believe it has been repainted at some point. It types extremely well and does indeed see regular use.
