1994 Nakajima ALL 8000 Serial # 23102357 1994 Nakajima ALL 8000 typewriter, Serial # 23102357 Javier Vazquez del Olmo's 1994 Nakajima ALL 8000 typewriter. 2015-07-29 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Javier Vazquez del Olmo: 1994 Nakajima ALL 8000 Serial # 23102357 And now, my typewriter.

Yep, I was given this typewriter as a gift, brand new, back in 1994. By then I was 10, and in all honesty I didnĀ“t care too much about it. I used it a bit at school, and it wasnĀ“t until almost 20 years later when I started collecting typewriters.

By then my grandfather had scrounged it from me years ago. He had a bulky Olivetti Linea 98, and as you can see thatĀ“s the story in my profile.

Now, my grandfather still uses this typewriter from time to time. In fact, itĀ“s still a good piece of equipment for the association he runs, but heĀ“s planning about retiring next year, and the writing is on the wall: the typewriter will come back home.

As you can see, itĀ“s not well kept. ItĀ“s quite dirty, but it works surprisingly well. In fact, it works like new. Oh, wait, it IS almost new. In 20 years itĀ“s seen little use, and itĀ“s an average to decent typewriter. In fact, IĀ“m surprised. ItĀ“s really accurate, and if I had to name a weakness it would be the plastic bodywork which gives an air of weakness. And the sticker with the serial number. I really hate those stickers!

But anyway, I really appreciate this machine. After all, itĀ“s mine.

The first typewriter I saw was my grandpa´s Olivetti Linea 98 at the office. It was just a curio for me. Then I was given a Nakajima, which I didn´t use and my grandfather took it from me because it was easier to handle than the bulky Linea 98. Now I own that typewriter, and I started a little collection in Valladolid, Spain. The Nakajima, which is "my" typewriter only returned home in 2017, almost 20 years later, when he wanted a better typewriter.

A collection that started small grew into something bigger, a nuisace for my family and a great source of satisfaction for me.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Nakajima ALL 8000 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Nakajima ALL Serial Number page and the Nakajima ALL 8000 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
