1971 Webster XL-747 Serial # Unknown 1971 Webster XL-747 typewriter, Serial # Unknown Plante and Doole-Fisher Typewriters's 1971 Webster XL-747 typewriter. 2018-03-08 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Plante and Doole-Fisher Typewriters: 1971 Webster XL-747 Serial # Unknown I acquired this Brother rebrand at a local used-store for a few dollars. The typewriter came in a very attractive picnic basket look-alike carrying case in good condition. The colour and faux wood is what attracted me to the typewriter in the first place. Besides that I am a Brother fan although I like to use older typewriters than these. But despite the fact that they might have been made with the most sustainable material, they are surprisingly durable and always seem to work. I have owned quite a few of these and despite that cosmetically they are found in various states, mechanically, I never seem to have a problem with these typewriters. This is another example. It has the typical Brother key-yellowing issue, and there was corrosion in the back ,which was one of the reasons I decided to flip it. However, otherwise the machine was in very good condition. The paint was still very blue and the decals and faux wood were in very good condition. All in all, more proof that Brother can make good typewriters.;
