I have a deep admiration for space-age Facit models; they're efficient, perform well, and have a number of interesting details to make them stand out from the efforts of other manufacturers. However, this replacement of the TP1 is a decided step backward with respect to a few of its components. Some parts, such as the line space selector are laughably small and cheap looking. The same can be said for many of the control levers on the carriage.

I prefer the case design of the TP1 as well, but that's not to say that the TP2 is bad looking machine. If you squint a little you could easily say that it isn't dissimilar to an Olympia SM9, which is not a bad thing.

Normally I don't care too much about the travel cases that come with portables, but the TP2's case is a thing of beauty - on the inside. There's a flap under the machine to hold the manual and other papers, a pouch at the side for cleaning tools and other paraphernalia.

I'm not sure what to think about the age of this machine. I've dated it according to the DB numbers, but inside the case there was a Christmas gift label with 1970 written on it. It is possible that it was manufactured late in 1968 and took close to two years to sell, but it seems like a stretch. Or maybe it was used - or a re-gift - who knows.
