1967 Olympia SF Serial # 1366759 1967 Olympia SF typewriter, Serial # 1366759 Brad Sarno's 1967 Olympia SF typewriter. 2014-05-12 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Brad Sarno: 1967 Olympia SF Serial # 1366759 Finally, my first script typewriter, and in a typewriter I had been seeking. It was a local "sale", or actually what turned out to be a barter. I was put to the task of digging thru my somewhat vast audio resources and applying my audio engineering skills to get 3 classic albums put together in digital form. Lou Reed's Rock n Roll Animal, Rod Stewart's Gasoline Alley, and Savoy Brown's Street Corner Talkin. I stepped up to the challenge, and now this sweet little script SF is mine. (insert evil laugh here).

I've been on a kick for compact portables lately, and this Oly SF has got to be one of the finest I've come across. It's got the well known mechanical build quality we expect from Olympia, but the SF has such a comfortable and easy touch, the platen is still VERY rubbery, and overall the thing is just a great typer, regardless of it's compact aspect. The case is impeccable too. It came with both the dated warranty sheet as well as the final inspection sheet. The machine was clearly made in July of 1967. I was 15 months old at the time.

It was a very happy acquisition today! (thanks John P)

I've spent my life as a mechanical and electronics tinkerer, bikes, cars, lawnmowers, appliances, cameras, audio gear, guitars, amplifiers, and pedal steel guitars. I was trained as a typist for 2 years back in the late 70's on IBM Selectric II's. At home I recall my mother having an Olympia SM3. More recently we got our daughter a typewriter for Christmas, and that somehow sparked my own personal interest in these fine and interesting machines. Now it's a habit that just won't quit. Daily searches on Craigslist, frequent trips to antique stores & malls, garage sales, etc. It's a fun and healthy addiction.
