1967 Hermes 9 Serial # 8161322 1967 Hermes 9 typewriter, Serial # 8161322 Javier Vazquez del Olmo's 1967 Hermes 9 typewriter. 2016-11-24 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Javier Vazquez del Olmo: 1967 Hermes 9 Serial # 8161322 Along with typebar electrics, I have a curse which prevents me from getting fully functional Hermes´.

This one is complete, but for now it´s out of order. It desperately needs a good cleaning, oiling and a new ribbon. The poor thing is a good example of an abandoned office machine. Probably, it´s spent decades stored somewhere, catching dust and starting to rust. Finding it at 24€ (shipping included) is just what it needed, and now it´s rescued at its new home, waiting for its appointing with the air compressor, cleaning products and my clumsy hands.

After that, I hope I can fully experience the fabled wonders of Hermes machinery, because for now the only 100% operative Hermes I have is a 30´s Baby, which is not exactly the Typing World Champion.

The first typewriter I saw was my grandpa´s Olivetti Linea 98 at the office. It was just a curio for me. Then I was given a Nakajima, which I didn´t use and my grandfather took it from me because it was easier to handle than the bulky Linea 98. Now I own that typewriter, and I started a little collection in Valladolid, Spain. The Nakajima, which is "my" typewriter only returned home in 2017, almost 20 years later, when he wanted a better typewriter.

A collection that started small grew into something bigger, a nuisace for my family and a great source of satisfaction for me.
