1965 Underwood Touchmaster Five Serial # 13-9378627 1965 Underwood Touchmaster Five typewriter, Serial # 13-9378627 Javier Vazquez del Olmo's 1965 Underwood Touchmaster Five typewriter. 2016-06-11 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Javier Vazquez del Olmo: 1965 Underwood Touchmaster Five Serial # 13-9378627 The restoration of this machine turned out to be more difficult than I thought. It was really rusty, but finally thanks to some wizardry by the former assembly chief of Hispano Olivetti it is back on the desk again.

I am not really sure if this early 60´s machine is a "true" Underwood or an Underwood - Olivetti, since the serial number is a bit after what I could find under the brand Underwood, and it also has the Spanish keyboard with the "ñ", so maybe it could be made after Olivetti came into scene.

Anyway, this machine is pure quality. It replaced an M40, but just like it, it is made to last a century.

--- UPDATE ---

Uploaded more photos. Since this is one of my early typewriters, I think some more photos would better show the machine itself. When I took the first ones I didn´t have much room to maneuver, but now that´s different.

The first typewriter I saw was my grandpa´s Olivetti Linea 98 at the office. It was just a curio for me. Then I was given a Nakajima, which I didn´t use and my grandfather took it from me because it was easier to handle than the bulky Linea 98. Now I own that typewriter, and I started a little collection in Valladolid, Spain. The Nakajima, which is "my" typewriter only returned home in 2017, almost 20 years later, when he wanted a better typewriter.

A collection that started small grew into something bigger, a nuisace for my family and a great source of satisfaction for me.
