1962 Olympia Monica Serial # 2078857 1962 Olympia Monica typewriter, Serial # 2078857 Javier Vazquez del Olmo's 1962 Olympia Monica typewriter. 2016-07-29 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Javier Vazquez del Olmo: 1962 Olympia Monica Serial # 2078857 This one is a breath of fresh air. It seems to be a fact that when thigs start going wrong, they´ll accelerate until they get REAL wrong until something good happens. At least when we speak about typewriters... And this one broke the vicious circle.

Maybe the Olympia Monica is not as highly regarded as its "better" sisters (in this case the SM3), but it´s still a powerful typewriter. It may not have tabulator and touch control, but it´s still an Olympia and that means you´re faced with a great typewriter.

In this case I got it a a good price. In theory it worked, and in fact it only needs a new ribbon and a bit of cleaning. Nevertheless, this machine must have seen a lot of action because of the weird color fading outside. A good extra is the Spanish keyboard :D

The first typewriter I saw was my grandpa´s Olivetti Linea 98 at the office. It was just a curio for me. Then I was given a Nakajima, which I didn´t use and my grandfather took it from me because it was easier to handle than the bulky Linea 98. Now I own that typewriter, and I started a little collection in Valladolid, Spain. The Nakajima, which is "my" typewriter only returned home in 2017, almost 20 years later, when he wanted a better typewriter.

A collection that started small grew into something bigger, a nuisace for my family and a great source of satisfaction for me.
