195X Patria (Spain) Patria Serial # XXXXXXXXXXXXX 195X Patria (Spain) Patria typewriter, Serial # XXXXXXXXXXXXX Javier Vazquez del Olmo's 195X Patria (Spain) Patria typewriter. 2016-11-24 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Javier Vazquez del Olmo: 195X Patria (Spain) Patria Serial # XXXXXXXXXXXXX If someone told me I´d get this beauty for 15€ and in perfect working condition I´d laugh at that.

But nope, it happened just like that. Yellow Patrias are not common, and this one has been very well preserved. Works perfectly fine, and it´s quite pleasant to use. This machine belongs to the first generation of typewriters made in Eibar by Imperial Española S.A, which later turned into IMESA and later on it became Sedic. Recent IMESA was a real state company, but it dissapeared in 2015 with a ton of debts over it after some disastrous investments, so no relation at all with typewriters.

But back to the typewriter, yellow seems to be good luck for these machines. They always say yellow is bad luck in theatre (Molière would agree), but so far I have 2 yellow typewriters: a Klein Conti and this one, and both of them are very pleasant to use and a joy to look at.

The first typewriter I saw was my grandpa´s Olivetti Linea 98 at the office. It was just a curio for me. Then I was given a Nakajima, which I didn´t use and my grandfather took it from me because it was easier to handle than the bulky Linea 98. Now I own that typewriter, and I started a little collection in Valladolid, Spain. The Nakajima, which is "my" typewriter only returned home in 2017, almost 20 years later, when he wanted a better typewriter.

A collection that started small grew into something bigger, a nuisace for my family and a great source of satisfaction for me.
