195X Hispano-Olivetti Studio 44 Serial # 784733 195X Hispano-Olivetti Studio 44 typewriter, Serial # 784733 Javier Vazquez del Olmo's 195X Hispano-Olivetti Studio 44 typewriter. 2013-06-03 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Javier Vazquez del Olmo: 195X Hispano-Olivetti Studio 44 Serial # 784733 This machine has a long story, it has passed through several owners before finally arriving at my collection.

First it was brought by the company my grandfather (other one, not the one at the office) was working for. There it was used for a lot of years before my grandfather took it home, when it was more or less well treated. It was always kept inside its case, but from time to time it had to stand heavy punishment by my father and his brothers when they were kids. Nevertheless, the machine resisted and my uncle (the same who gave me the Editor 4), who inherited it after my grandfather passed away and keep it at his garage, always in its case and using it from time to time. Then when he found about my little hobby he asked me for some time before deciding what to do.

Finally he gave me the machine, saying I would keep the machine in a better condition, and I would enjoy it more than him, and believe me, the machine was important for him.

So this machine is REALLY important for me now.

It needed almost no maintenance to start working again, and the only permanent damage I have found is at the return lever, but it´s nothing serious. This machine has its own character, with very smooth typing action, its lever glitch and last but not least its strong tobacco smell.

The first typewriter I saw was my grandpa´s Olivetti Linea 98 at the office. It was just a curio for me. Then I was given a Nakajima, which I didn´t use and my grandfather took it from me because it was easier to handle than the bulky Linea 98. Now I own that typewriter, and I started a little collection in Valladolid, Spain. The Nakajima, which is "my" typewriter only returned home in 2017, almost 20 years later, when he wanted a better typewriter.

A collection that started small grew into something bigger, a nuisace for my family and a great source of satisfaction for me.
