This true battleship of a typewriter had been under my radar for a long time until I decided to fish it. But enough seafaring!

It came well escorted by and Adler Universal and an Adler Special, and I got them at a really good price. Could this finally be a fully working Hermes? Indeed it is! The ribbon is somewhere between mummified and fossilized, but the rest is just as it's supposed to be. Considering how picky Hermes typewriters are, I think I've been lucky with this one. Works really well and it has a pretty unique touch. It's comfortable to use (much more than the coetaneous Olivetti Lexicon 80), and while it isn't as deadly fast as an Olympia SG1 it's competent enough.

A bit dull on the outside, but I won't complain!

As a final note, there seems to be something weird with the s/n, as it goes beyond what's supposed for the Hermes 6 and gets into the realms of the Ambassador.

The first typewriter I saw was my grandpa´s Olivetti Linea 98 at the office. It was just a curio for me. Then I was given a Nakajima, which I didn´t use and my grandfather took it from me because it was easier to handle than the bulky Linea 98. Now I own that typewriter, and I started a little collection in Valladolid, Spain. The Nakajima, which is "my" typewriter only returned home in 2017, almost 20 years later, when he wanted a better typewriter.

A collection that started small grew into something bigger, a nuisace for my family and a great source of satisfaction for me.
