1941 Royal Quiet De Luxe Serial # A-975773 1941 Royal Quiet De Luxe typewriter, Serial # A-975773 Jessi-Lyn Curry's 1941 Royal Quiet De Luxe typewriter. 2017-09-25 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Jessi-Lyn Curry: 1941 Royal Quiet De Luxe Serial # A-975773 Probably a more a 1940. Will update if given clarification.

This is what I believe to be my beautiful unicorn. I worked on a younger model, pre-war black machine for a friend and fell.in.love!! When I learned it came in brown for a short period, I went on a serious hunt. I ventured into EBay for the very first time. I found several options and lost my first auction due to inexperience, but won the second (and more expensive) one the next day after asking how the bidding works. I'm sure I pissed off someone that day.

The high I got from winning that auction was intense, and I totally understand how easily addictive that can get. And now I completely stay away from EBay.

I have no history on the machine. The owner has stopped answering my emails. But they did listen to my packing instructions (thank you FB collector group!!) and it came in perfect, but filthy condition.

Stripped and cleaned, new ribbons and purchased metal spools. No alignment or escapement issues at all! I will be using Betsy for NanoWrimo 2017 with a blue/red ribbon from Typewriter Justice and 25% cotton paper.

I paid $143 including shipping. Worth it, but not what it should have been.

Small time collector working on skills as a hobbyist repair technician. Mostly a writer with a hatred for computer word processing programs. I think I have found my Eleanor, but I keep looking and giving away my machines until I have just the right one. Plus I love working on and cleaning these amazing machines.
