1932 Remington Remie Scout Model Serial # S27686 1932 Remington Remie Scout Model typewriter, Serial # S27686 Tom Beauvais's 1932 Remington Remie Scout Model typewriter. 2017-10-16 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Tom Beauvais: 1932 Remington Remie Scout Model Serial # S27686 Michigan antique mall purchase. Wonder whoever thought up the catchy name "Remie Scout." The typeface is "Art Gothic, a sans-serif typeface per Alan Seaver's "Machines of Loving Grace," "All About the Remie Scout." Looks like per Richard Polt and Alan Seaver the version is "d" and "(4)" respectively since it is an all caps machine in an enclosed frame. The carriage return lever is on the left, the platen knob on the right. The keyboard is uppercase letters on black keys. Small arms would hold the ribbon spool--this machine did not have any ribbon spools. I found this machine in the same locked glass case that my Remington Portable 2 (blue color) was in. Glad I decided to drive up to Bay City on the Saginaw river for a Sunday drive from Ann Arbor. Machine was made in Buffalo, NY. Currently that factory site is home to the Remington Tavern, 184 Sweeney Street, North Tonawanda, NY--Tonawanda being part of the Buffalo urban area. Their web page has an interesting logo--a typewriter key. SOLD to a friend 16Oct2017.

Changed my collecting priorities to portables except the Olympia SG3 with the cyrillic keyboard and my Underwood No. 5--those beasts are too heavy. Sold my earlier typewriters to a friend. I had too many. I use carbon paper for typefaces when the machines have faint ribbons. I take photos with my Canon Powershot SX50HS (50x optical zoom and macro settings). I find it difficult doing typeface specimens since I use a Corsair K70 RGB gaming keyboard plugged into my 15-in Macbook. I got it solely for the deep key travel. I have fun hunting machines in antique malls in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana.
