The Typewriter Database 19xx Imperial The Good Companion Serial # n/a From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Piotr Trumpiel: 19xx Imperial The Good Companion Serial # n/a Today's catch - a sister machine to the one that showed up in some news bulletins:

Yes - the descriptions on shift, shift lock, backspace and margin release are in Polish but there are quite a few foreign characters (umlauts, cedilla) and accents on a dead key so the machine had a broader use in my view.

A few issues:
* bent paper bail lever and broken connection to the right spring
* ribbon vibrator doesn't return
* carriage gets stuck sometimes in shifted position
* a few typebars needed a gentle twist to strike the guide without jamming
* character alignment is off

Unfortunately there is no serial number nor even the marks in the usual place that would suggest the number plate was there initially.

The crest says: By appointment to H.M King George V.
