This is a 50th Anniversary Model Correcting Selectric III. It has the noise-reduction package with the acoustical sound hood. It was made late in 1983 according to casting date stamps inside the covers. It appears the only thing that distinguishes this machine from a standard Selectric III is the brass anniversary badge and the special gray-green paint. Some have called it army green, but it's not really. It's more gray than green. As far as I know, all 50th Anniversary models were this color.

The 50th Anniversary refers to the 50th year that IBM made typewriters, not the 50th anniversary of the Selectric.

I traded for this machine in exchange for some repairs to another Selectric. At one point it belonged to a hospital.

It's been completely refurbished and rebuilt to type like new again. It has all the latest revisions that IBM put into a Selectric, including the 210 bicycle ribbon and nylon lower cover.

I love mechanical things and have tinkered with manual and electric typewriters since my teens. I have always been fascinated by the IBM Selectric, but it was later in life that I finally got my hands on one to explore. I learned to repair/restore them and suddenly I have several of them. I don't really consider myself a collector, but rather a restorer. I enjoy bringing old machines back to usable condition and then pass them on to other people to use and enjoy.
