Description:
This is a pretty, white, Smith-Corona-built, Sears-branded, nicely-functioning typewriter. It works well and is in good shape except for a missing (at least) spring in the paper bail system. Note that the ribbon cover flips up in the older S-C fashion.
The actual color is more the white shown in some pics than the bluish in others. Note also the charming decoration that the previous owner had adorned the case with. And finally there is that protective tape that the factory put on the back side to reduce scratching during shipping, that the buyers often did not remove, which has now 50 years later dried into petrified tape that takes days to remove.

While I find all of mankind's inventions interesting, I am most enchanted by the human-scale arts and devices, the ones that can be created (and repaired) in a home workshop or studio; the ones that can be understood by looking at them; the ones that do something useful or stir admiration. Typewriters work for me.
