1966 Remington Model 24 Serial # CM297503 1966 Remington Model 24 typewriter, Serial # CM297503 Plante and Doole-Fisher Typewriters's 1966 Remington Model 24 typewriter. 2018-02-01 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Plante and Doole-Fisher Typewriters: 1966 Remington Model 24 Serial # CM297503 I acquired this beautiful 1966 Remington 24 Italic Desktop typewriter from a junk-store for $15.00, 2 days before Canada's 150th anniversary (July 1st, 2017). Upon closer inspection I discovered that this typewriter was sold as the anniversary model for Canada's 100th Anniversary, which I thought was ironic finding it 50 years later. The machine is in great mechanical and cosmetic condition, which is surprising because the bodywork is mostly made of plastic. But there is no chipping, cracking, warping or damage anywhere. The only thing that is missing is one of the margin-stop covers which I lost in the mess of my flooded house, which occurred shortly after I acquired the typewriter. It truly is a survivor and types very well. I managed to buy it with the original dustcover which, besides having some pin-size holes in it, is also in good condition. This machine is very nice to type on. I owned a Remington Monarch 1 and a Remington Fleetwood a few years ago which are the portable versions of this machine as well as the Remington International which were made parallel to this model, and I have to say the keys suit better on these machines than they do on the portables. At least the typing experience with these odd shaped keys is much better on a heavy machine such as this. Regardless, this typewriter is a treasure, and I am happy to have it. I acknowledge that these machines received mixed reviews, but I enjoy it.
