1961 AMC (Alpina) SK24 Serial # 267908 1961 AMC (Alpina) SK24 typewriter, Serial # 267908 Brad Sarno's 1961 AMC (Alpina) SK24 typewriter. 2015-07-19 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Brad Sarno: 1961 AMC (Alpina) SK24 Serial # 267908 This very nice AMC (Alpina SK24) was on my wish list for about a year. Finally I found it on Craigslist for $20. When I got it, there was a broken pawl tooth in the escapement and it wouldn't work. But fortunately, a very kind and generous German typewriter sculptor Helmut Stock had the replacement part for me. Once the part was replaced, this machine came alive. This is such a wonderful machine. It types with a great feel and precision, the build and engineering quality is top notch, the features and adjustability are complete. It's simply a very fine typewriter, among the very best I'd argue.

Carriage shift is the lightest, easiest I've met.

Pica typeface.

I took a lot of photos of it for the database here. Enjoy the photo tour...

I've spent my life as a mechanical and electronics tinkerer, bikes, cars, lawnmowers, appliances, cameras, audio gear, guitars, amplifiers, and pedal steel guitars. I was trained as a typist for 2 years back in the late 70's on IBM Selectric II's. At home I recall my mother having an Olympia SM3. More recently we got our daughter a typewriter for Christmas, and that somehow sparked my own personal interest in these fine and interesting machines. Now it's a habit that just won't quit. Daily searches on Craigslist, frequent trips to antique stores & malls, garage sales, etc. It's a fun and healthy addiction.
