The Typewriter Database 1952 Hermes Baby Serial # 5247768 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Taylor Harbin: 1952 Hermes Baby Serial # 5247768 Purchased for $30 on Craigslist while in Springfield, MO. The consignment shop owner had drug it out of an attic while doing an estate sale. It's in near perfect working order, minus the clip that holds the right ribbon cover in place. I think Gorilla glue will fix that.

The machine types well enough and the paint is immaculate, except for the back side. Using the carriage shift in single-space is a bit tricky, since the bail bar acts as a stop that can easily be overridden if you use too much force.

Very light weight and a great piece!

I am a professional historian and writer. I have been collecting typewriters since 2013, and use them for all of my work (novels, short stories, poetry, non-fiction, and personal letters). I have a passion for all things antique, but hold a special place for these tools. Some of my collection is up for sale or trade, so if you see something you want, let me know!
