1937 Woodstock 5 Serial # N494819 1937 Woodstock 5 typewriter, Serial # N494819 Richard Polt's 1937 Woodstock 5 typewriter. 2016-10-17 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Richard Polt: 1937 Woodstock 5 Serial # N494819 This '37 Woodstock has been "updated" for the Deco age with some bakelite panels on either end of the carriage and a typebar hood—an aluminum structure that simply slides under the ribbon cups. I expect that this structure, which really has no function other than helping to keep some dust out, must often have been lost. It is also liable to getting scratched (as this one was) because it comes very close to the bottom of the carriage return lever.
