1935 Underwood Noiseless Standard Serial # 3928308 1935 Underwood Noiseless Standard typewriter, Serial # 3928308 Richard Polt's 1935 Underwood Noiseless Standard typewriter. 2018-07-03 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Richard Polt: 1935 Underwood Noiseless Standard Serial # 3928308 This is a machine I refurbished for its owner. Elite type, 14" carriage.

As Will Davis says, "In mid-1929, Underwood Typewriter Company also entered into an agreement by which Noiseless-pattern machines would be sold with the "Underwood Noiseless" name. It is still not certain 100% whether or not the machines were built by Underwood, but it is certain that various models of Remington and Underwood Noiseless machines show differences between each other."

A decal on the back explicitly claims that this machine was made in the Underwood factory in Hartford, CT -- not the Remington Noiseless factory in Middletown, CT or the Remington factory in Ilion, NY.

One detail on the Underwood Noiseless that differs from the Remington Noiseless is that the dial that adjusts the position of the platen is located on the right side of the Underwood, instead of the front of the machine as on the Remington.

This machine is missing its ribbon covers. I installed spools made for an Underwood Electric.
