The Typewriter Database 1916 Royal 10 Serial # X236069 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Erik Bruchez: 1916 Royal 10 Serial # X236069 This is a 4-window model, with a couple of special Rx (pharmacy) keys. It really is in amazing condition. Whoever had this took care of it.
It will need some dusting and a light clean-up but that might be all.

The Royal 10 is one of the most beautiful machines ever made. I especially love that they put *windows* on them: yes, windows! The first models apparently had 4 openings and no windows, then they moved to 4 openings with windows, and finally 2 windows only. Later machines like the KHM still have covered openings but no windows anymore.

I started collecting my first pre-WW2 standard typewriters in 2017. Since then I have added a few machines to my collection, which now ranges from the 1890s to the 1970s. As of June 2018, most of my machines are big standard (desktop) typewriters, with some exceptions.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Royal 10 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Royal Serial Number page and the Royal 10 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
