The Typewriter Database 190x Royal-Barlock n.10 Serial # 102262 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Enrico Morozzi: 190x Royal-Barlock n.10 Serial # 102262 Royal Barlock typewriter.
In 1888 Charles Spiro had a great idea: a full Smith-Premier-like keyboard on a visible down-strike machine.
The result was the Barlock Typewriter, that was produced with a rather good success until 1914.
This specimen was made in England, where production moved from 1900 on.
It types quite strong.. You can easily make holes on your paper with this one, but to really see what you're writing you must write on a low table, so the typist position isn't so comfortable.
